Artist's Comments

here it is in all it's glory the new page one for Forever winter. I know, I know. it sucks but I've started over, a little older, slightly wiser, with a far better game plan and script.

well going through my portfolio I noticed that the older pages Just have not aged well. some of them are almost four years old at this point! I wish I had released at least something, but what's the point if its going to be sup par.

over the last year or so I've expanded the story so much and added to The cast going back and setting up a lot of interesting things earlier on will hopefully be more enjoyable to read. time will tell I suppose. the plan now is to do Issues like a regular comic book, each issue containing 22 pages of the main story and then a back up story that will tie in to what's going on in the main story. such as expanding on some of the supporting characters and who they are or up to. I also will most likely try and put a pitch together like :iconlarq2525: and :iconjessemunoz: did with broken legacy.

happy with this page, trying to step my game up with the backgrounds and setting up the world of "forever winter" a little bit more. drop me some comments or critiques. why dontcha

well sir, it breaks my heart to know you are going to start over and wipe clean everything you have done, but all thebest comics and books probably have gone through the same thing. And i like your decision based on how you will set everything up, it seems like the right thing to do. It feels like your approach will definitly take a more serious direction in setting up the world like you said. And then develop the characters alot more. I can see how your older pages are a little more linear and obviously not on par with how you can draw now. Not to mention where you are in life now and who you are is alot different than who you were back then, especially in terms of what influences you, just from th films you watch now, and the types of comics you read. They are far better created material than i think you and i were both into way back when. So i know that these new influences will only make this story more dramatic and well rounded.

anyway, I think this page looks amazing. Very professional, and it shows wat persitance does to your art.

thanks man. it wasnt a decision I made lightly, but when I look at the more recent work I've done and then at the older pages I think it's the right one.

yeah my influences have changed a lot and I agree that it has moved me into a different direction with my art. The movies especially, Alot of peckingpah I think has snuck its way into my thinking process and how he starts with such a simple idea and as the story progresses things spiral more and more out of control and the characters and the viewers need to adapted to what's going on. I kind of see FW as a peckingpah western mashed up with Prison break and Lost.

when I first started writing forever winter I was planning to do it kind of like the ultimates, then ultimates II and so on. so in the orginal draft there are hints of more going on that would be explained in a "sequel". Also the fact that although I knew more was going I hadn't connected everything at that point. Like I mentioned the Last year I really have figured out so much of how the story all ties together. it's fun now to hide things that I know mean so much more as the story progresses. Bringing in some of the other characters, a lot eariler then they would have been, is really a lot of fun to do and keeps everything intresting to draw.

Holy balls, man! Those are some sweet perspective shots. That shot of the interior of the truck in panel 3 is the tits.

Hopefully this time around any homeless guys you draw will have better penmanship.

thanks sir. really happy with the truck in the third panel as well.

The backwards E is the real reason I'm starting the whole thing over. I wasn't going to mention it, but since you brought it up. if your still doing the backup story for me Dont draw the last page, cause chances are it will change slightly, everything before that last page should be all good. if your still working on it that is.
